Zemfira Ramazanova is a Russian singer who will forever remain a part of Russian culture. At the age of five, the future singer studied at a music school, where she played the piano and was a soloist in the choir. At the same time, she performed on a local TV channel with a children's song. The girl was seven years old when she wrote her first song. She was fond of the work of Viktor Tsoi, her heart also "demanded a change." At school, Zemfira was seriously involved in basketball, quite professionally, playing as an important point guard. She was shorter than everyone else on the team, but this did not prevent Zemfira from becoming the captain of the Russian youth team. She had to make a choice - sports or music. The girl entered the Ufa College of Arts in the pop and jazz vocal department, which she successfully graduated from, acquiring even more knowledge and experience. While studying, she earned money by performing popular songs in restaurants in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and in 1996 she got a job at a local radio station.
At the end of 1998, Zemfira began working on her first debut album, in the recording of which Ilya Lagutenko, the leader of the group "Mumiy Troll", took an active part. At that time, while searching for new young talents, he heard Zemfira's voice and realized her potential as a future star. The disc was released in May 1999 and was a resounding success. The first tour, which began three months after the release of the album, also exceeded all expectations, the concerts were sold out. By the end of the tour, the singer was already actively participating in various rock festivals. The debut collection "Zemfira" became the most popular disc of 2000 in Russia, as well as the most commercially successful in the singer's entire discography. Later, in 2004, she performed two of her most striking duets: one with Ilya Lagutenko at the Maxidrome rock festival, and the second with Queen at the MTV Russia Music Awards, the immortal Freddie Mercury song We are the Champions. Her next album was another breakthrough in the history of Russian rock. Forgive Me, My Love set a new record for all-Russian online sales. At the end of 2003, Zemfira was awarded the MTV Europe Music Award as the best Russian performer; her hits were already known throughout Russia, and her concerts were sold out. The lyrical content of her songs reflects the problems of a generation. She also became the producer of the musical film Green Theater with Zemfira (2008), which received positive reviews from critics. Together with film director and close friend Renata Litvinova, she co-produced the film Rita's Last Fairy Tale (2012). In 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015, the singer was included in the Top 100 most influential women in Russia.
Zemfira's songs often touch on themes of emotional loss and longing, combined with unwavering loyalty and personal self-development. Her lyrics explore life's uncertainties, emphasizing resilience and emotional strength. This combination has resonated deeply with her listeners, making her a prominent figure in Russian music.
