Zemfira Ramazanova, better known as simply Zemfira, is not just a rock singer. She is a phenomenon, a cultural code of an entire generation. Her voice is vulnerable and strong, her songs are complex truths about feelings, loss, freedom and love. Since she left Ufa and moved to Moscow in 1998, the country's musical landscape has changed irreversibly.
Already her first album, released in 1999 with the eponymous band "Zemfira", became a breakthrough. "Arivederchi", "Iskala", "Traffic" - these songs immediately became cult. Since then, Zemfira has released seven studio albums, topped the charts more than once, sold out stadiums, and was not afraid to experiment. Her music balances on the edge of rock, pop-rock, jazz, and bossa nova, but is always recognizable thanks to her signature lyrics and emotional delivery.
She is called a perfectionist, a person who does not compromise, especially in her work. Zemfira produces her albums herself, maintaining control over the sound and meaning. This allows her to remain honest - first of all, to herself, and therefore to the listener.
The Ogonyok magazine once called her "the breakthrough voice of a generation" - and this definition has not lost its relevance to this day. Zemfira is one of the few who have truly influenced the cultural landscape of Russia. It is no wonder that in 2012-2014 she was among the top 100 most influential women in the country.
